Position Overview
This is a full-time position reporting to the Shop Manager. Hours are predominantly daytime, Monday through Friday, although some seasonal overtime may be required.
Switzer-CARTY operates a newer fleet and follows a comprehensive maintenance program focused on quality and reliability.
Responsibilities

Perform scheduled and emergency service and maintenance on fleet vehicles (school buses) in accordance with the maintenance schedule

Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment and recommend the best course of action

Perform brake, safety, and emissions inspections in accordance with Ministry and company standards

Conduct emergency road breakdown repairs and provide troubleshooting advice to vehicle operators as needed

Work with drivers and supervisors to diagnose problems and determine required repairs

Inspect and repair wheelchair ramps, hoisting, and lifting devices
-
Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and supplies consumed
-
Ensure vehicle operators have access to necessary supplies such as fuel, oil, and other fluids

Assist during inclement weather to ensure fleet readiness and service reliability

Perform repairs and assist with maintenance of the building

Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Qualifications
-
Valid Truck and Transport Mechanic license (Class 310T) with experience on gasoline and diesel engines

Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license
-
Ability to complete written work orders accurately and communicate effectively with management, dispatch, and drivers
-
Strong communication and organizational skills
-
Basic computer skills and ability to use OEM diagnostic software and tools
-
Good knowledge of geographic locations
-
Strong time management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to ensure task completion
Pay: $40.00 per hour
