Position Overview

 

 

This is a full-time position reporting to the Shop Manager. Hours are predominantly daytime, Monday through Friday, although some seasonal overtime may be required.

 

Switzer-CARTY operates a newer fleet and follows a comprehensive maintenance program focused on quality and reliability.

 


 

 

Responsibilities

 

 

  • Perform scheduled and emergency service and maintenance on fleet vehicles (school buses) in accordance with the maintenance schedule

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment and recommend the best course of action

  • Perform brake, safety, and emissions inspections in accordance with Ministry and company standards

  • Conduct emergency road breakdown repairs and provide troubleshooting advice to vehicle operators as needed

  • Work with drivers and supervisors to diagnose problems and determine required repairs

  • Inspect and repair wheelchair ramps, hoisting, and lifting devices

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and supplies consumed

  • Ensure vehicle operators have access to necessary supplies such as fuel, oil, and other fluids

  • Assist during inclement weather to ensure fleet readiness and service reliability

  • Perform repairs and assist with maintenance of the building

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

 

 


 

 

Qualifications

 

 

  • Valid Truck and Transport Mechanic license (Class 310T) with experience on gasoline and diesel engines

  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license

  • Ability to complete written work orders accurately and communicate effectively with management, dispatch, and drivers

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Basic computer skills and ability to use OEM diagnostic software and tools

  • Good knowledge of geographic locations

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to ensure task completion

 

 


 

Pay: $40.00 per hour
